Day 2 & 3: Nairobi- Amboseli
After breakfast, you will depart the city for the picturesque national park of Amboseli. Situated close to the Tanzanian border, this park is known for its soaring views of Mt Kilimanjaro – Africa’s highest peak at 5,895m. On a clear morning, you can see the snow-capped summit as it rises above the clouds, it’s truly one of the continent’s most breathtaking vistas.
You arrive at your lodge in time to freshen up and have lunch. In the afternoon, you will embark on your first game drive. Amboseli is also known for its population of elephants, at around 1,200, with their huge tusks. The elephants of Amboseli are some of the largest in size anywhere in Africa and are affectionately known as ‘Tuskers’.
The following day you will spend on a morning and afternoon game drive within the national park or, alternatively, you may do a full day’s game drive with a picnic lunch. You will most certainly head to Observation Hill at some point during the day as this lookout gives spectacular views over the grassy savannah and marshes, where you will like to see elephants wallowing against a backdrop of Kilimanjaro. Other species that inhabit Amboseli include lion, giraffe, wildebeest, and other plains game. You’ll return to camp in the early evening for overnight.
