Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi;

Arrive at Nairobi’s JKIA airport, where you will be met by a friendly Peaks & Safaris Representative who will transfer you to the Doubletree By Hilton Hotel overnight. The hotel offers a very comfortable beginning to your safari in Kenya. Tucked away in a quiet corner of Kilimani, perfect location, yet relaxed introduction to Nairobi. Should you arrive in Nairobi early we would be happy to suggest some of the many local attractions to visit; such as Sheldrick Orphanage, Karen Blixen Museum, and Giraffe Manor.

Day 2 & 3: Nairobi- Amboseli

After breakfast, you will depart the city for the picturesque national park of Amboseli. Situated close to the Tanzanian border, this park is known for its soaring views of Mt Kilimanjaro – Africa’s highest peak at 5,895m. On a clear morning, you can see the snow-capped summit as it rises above the clouds, it’s truly one of the continent’s most breathtaking vistas.

You arrive at your lodge in time to freshen up and have lunch. In the afternoon, you will embark on your first game drive. Amboseli is also known for its population of elephants, at around 1,200, with their huge tusks. The elephants of Amboseli are some of the largest in size anywhere in Africa and are affectionately known as ‘Tuskers’.

The following day you will spend on a morning and afternoon game drive within the national park or, alternatively, you may do a full day’s game drive with a picnic lunch. You will most certainly head to Observation Hill at some point during the day as this lookout gives spectacular views over the grassy savannah and marshes, where you will like to see elephants wallowing against a backdrop of Kilimanjaro. Other species that inhabit Amboseli include lion, giraffe, wildebeest, and other plains game. You’ll return to camp in the early evening for overnight.

One of the iconic sites in this park is the Mzima Springs, which comes from an underground river from Kilimanjaro. Here you get to experience swimming exotic fish from crystal clear water as well as spooky crocodiles & hippos.

Tsavo East national park is one of the must-visit parks for wildlife lovers. In terms of vegetation, this African Savannah has lower and more sparse vegetation compared to Tsavo West, but for this reason, it makes it easier to spot wildlife.
